In January 2019, four women CSOs out of the 12 organizations that CBLI works with in East Africa, met in Zanzibar for a two day retreat. The purpose of the retreat was to enable the CEO’s to share their experience, learn from each other and use each other’s experiences to address some of the similar challenges they are facing.
At the end of the exciting two days sharing of experiences, challenges & successes and learning from each other, the women CEOs committed to meeting every year to further cement the sisterhood bond that this retreat gave birth to.
Of the four organizations represented, three focus on Women & Child rights (ICS-SP, AfriChild Centre and FAWE), while the last one, LHRC focuses broadly on human rights. Two of these leaders were from Uganda, one from Kenya and the last one from Tanzania.
